Research Misconduct

Jurnal Ilmu Komunikasi dan Bisnis is committed to maintaining research integrity and ethical scholarly publishing. All authors, editors, and reviewers are required to uphold the principles of honesty, objectivity, transparency, and accountability throughout the publication process.

1. Types of Misconduct

Research misconduct includes, but is not limited to:

  1. Data fabrication, defined as making up data, results, or research findings that were never obtained.
  2. Data falsification, defined as manipulating research materials, processes, data, or results so that they do not accurately represent the research.
  3. Plagiarism, defined as using another person’s ideas, words, data, or work without appropriate acknowledgment or attribution.
  4. Duplicate or redundant publication, involving the improper publication or submission of substantially overlapping work without adequate disclosure and citation.
  5. Authorship misconduct, including listing individuals who have not made sufficient contributions, omitting eligible contributors, or changing the author list without the consent of the relevant parties.
  6. Research ethics violations, including collecting or using data without required consent, breaching privacy, or failing to obtain ethical approval where required.
  7. Misuse of artificial intelligence (AI), including using AI to fabricate data or references, presenting unverified information, or failing to disclose AI use when disclosure is required under the journal’s policies.

2. Reporting and Investigation

Allegations of misconduct may be reported to the editorial team with relevant information and supporting evidence. The editor will assess each report objectively, maintain the confidentiality of the parties involved to the extent possible, and provide the person concerned with an opportunity to respond.

Where necessary, the editor may request additional information, consult the relevant institution, or involve independent experts. All allegations will be handled fairly, proportionately, and on the basis of the available evidence.

3. Corrective Actions

Depending on the findings, the journal may take appropriate action, including rejecting the manuscript, requesting revisions or clarification, suspending the editorial process, retracting a published article, issuing a correction or editorial statement, or notifying the relevant institution where appropriate.

Decisions and actions will take into account the seriousness of the misconduct, the available evidence, and the principles of publication ethics.

4. Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for the originality, accuracy, and integrity of their research and submitted manuscripts. Editors are responsible for handling allegations independently and fairly, while reviewers must maintain manuscript confidentiality and report potential ethical concerns to the editor.

The journal does not tolerate research misconduct and is committed to maintaining public trust in scholarly publishing.
