Abstract

This study is entitled Family Preferences and Political Information. The family is the smallest group of people who are also being targeted by the 2019 election voters. Each family member accesses various political information through various media choices. The purpose of this study was to determine the preferences of Surabaya families in seeking information about politics. The theory used uses and gratification as well as the main concepts regarding media preferences, types of media, political and family information. Quantitative research approaches are descriptive research types and survey methods. Data collection through questionnaires. The population is a family in Surabaya with a sample of 100 families. Sampling of probability sampling with accidental sampling technique. The results showed online media was used as the family's main preference in obtaining political information. Both father, mother and child. Conventional media, namely print and electronic media, are almost abandoned as sources of political information in the family.
