Abstract

In accordance with the vision and mission of Garam Social Services (PS), children who are assisted by PS.Garam are children who are categorized as children from underprivileged families and have low academic abilities. Low parental education means parents are forced to do whatever they can to meet the family's needs. Parental educational background often influences parental participation in efforts to increase children's interest and motivation in learning. The learning assistance activities carried out by PS Garam once a week are felt by the assisted children as boring activities. Routine mentoring activities also cannot motivate the assisted children to learn. In an effort to solve this problem, PS Garam partnered with the Mangunwijaya Catholic Polytechnic (Polteka) community service team to attend the mentoring activity to present practical material for making aromatherapy candles. The aim of this activity is to increase children's curiosity and build children's involvement in the process of making a product. The method for implementing community service activities is divided into two process stages, namely: (1) introductory material to motivate children, (2) practice of making aromatherapy candles. The result of this activity is an increase in children's learning motivation and an increase in children's involvement in mentoring activities every week. Apart from that, aromatherapy candle products are also produced that children can use independently.
