Abstract

Personal grooming is a crucial form of nonverbal communication in building personal branding and self-confidence from an early age. However, adolescents’ understanding is often still limited to external visual aesthetics alone. The objective of this activity is to provide comprehensive training and understanding regarding the importance of personal grooming (total grooming) across three phases of adaptive development (school, college, and work) and to align it with the four dimensions of self-management (physical, mental, social-emotional, and spiritual). The participants in this activity were 240 junior high school (SMP) students from various partner institutions of the Strada Association, held at SMK Strada Budi Luhur in Bekasi. The methods used included interactive seminars featuring lectures, role-playing, discussions, Q&A sessions, and program evaluation via questionnaires. The impact of the activity was measured quantitatively through an online questionnaire completed by 229 respondents. The evaluation results showed a very high level of effectiveness for the program: 95.6% of participants stated that the program was important, 97.8% felt the material provided tangible benefits for their daily lives, 97.4% found the speakers’ presentations easy to understand, and 96.9% expressed satisfaction with the overall management of the program. Through this training, students were able to internalize the idea that maintaining one’s personal appearance is a tangible expression of self-respect and a stepping stone to future success. The conclusions from this activity indicate that grooming training is an effective long-term investment in soft skills for preparing a competitive new generation, has integrity, and is ready to transition to higher education or the workforce.
