Pelatihan Teknologi Pembuatan Lem Poli Vinil Asetat (PVAc) pada Produsen Album Elvira

Abstract

In the digital age, the photo album industry is still a potential for people to enjoy as consumers. One of the producers in the field of photo albums is "ALBUM ELVIRA". This company has constraints in production prices because the purchase of glue adds to production costs. Therefore, the album Elvira’s wants to be able to produce its own glue, so it can reduce cost of production and the selling price of the album can compete in the market. To overcome these problems, a workshop and training in the manufacture of Poly Vinil Acetate (PVAc) polymers can be applied as glue on paper. The method applied in this community service activity is the provision of materials and workshops on Poly Vinyl Acetate (PVAc) polymers. As a result of this community service activity, Album partner Elvira was cooperative and enthusiastic in participating in the material delivery and discussion activities. From these community service activities, conclusions can be drawn (1) Partners know the composition monomers, formulations, and procedures for making PVAc polymers. (2) Partners can make PVAc polymers to then be applied to paper glue to answer the obstacles that have been faced by partners. (3) In the training, emulsion of produced PVAc polymer which is quite stable, water soluble, with PH 6 and has a particle size of less than one micron, and a shelf life at room temperature for a month.
