Abstract

This survey is motivated by new media usage which is instagram as a social media. New media is a result of progress and technological development started from internet appearance. In line with technological development, new media comes with social networking site which are called social media. Instagram has twenty two millions active user partly came from employees. Therefore they are selected in this survey as a respondent. Instagram is one of social media used by online to access long range information, doing friendship relationship and looking for diversion. This survey explain that community makes instagram a social needs. It is a needs to interact with other people indirectly to show themself turning a self image. This case makes social needs turns to reasons or motives why they use it. This survey also intend to know instagram motive usage and self image for employee and more knowing there is a influence of instagram media usage to self image for employee especially in Directorate Human Capital Management, Head Office,  PT XYZ. In this survey it used quantitative method with probabilty sampling technique using simple random sampling for sixty five respondents. From respondents's result show highest motive comes to diversion they agreed as much sixty six percents and for self image they agreed as much as seventy two percents. This case is supporting by statistic result with t count (9,080) > t tabel (2,001) so it proved that instagram media usage react to self image.
