Informasi Mitigasi Bencana Alam di Kabupaten Ogan Komering Ulu

Abstract

Nowadays, the dissemination of information is running fast to the public, especially through social media. Moreover, the diversity of social media is interesting to be observed.  Since this research focused on the need of information related to natural disaster, it is important to know the flow of information in Ogan Komering Ulu Regency related to disaster mitigation information. Qualitative method was used in this research. Furthermore, in-depth interview with the society and local government was used in order to collect the data. The result of this research showed that the flow of information related to natural disaster mitigation has not synchronized to the vertical policies on between regional government and local government. Discussions on disaster mitigation were still manual and incidental . This proves that the efforts for reducing disaster risk had not become a strategic issue of the government, whereas tne natural disaster events are already vulnerable to the area of 'Ogan Komering Ulu Regency.
