Abstract

Community Service represents a form of implementing the "Tri Dharma" (Three Pillars) of Higher Education, wherein lecturers share knowledge and technology that are both needed by and beneficial to the community. In today's digital era, educators must be capable of developing innovative and interactive learning media to boost student engagement. Observations and discussions with SD Vianney Jakarta revealed that students are interested in the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), with many aspiring to join the military; however, conventional teaching methods used to explain the TNI often fail to capture students' interest. This situation highlighted the need to enhance teachers' competence in designing technology-based learning media that are creative and aligned with the characteristics of the digital generation. This community service initiative aimed to improve the competence of teachers at SD Vianney Jakarta in designing and developing digital educational games focused on introducing the TNI, serving as an interactive and enjoyable alternative learning medium. The implementation process involved identifying partner needs, preparing training materials, conducting training on educational game creation using Game Maker Studio, providing guidance on game prototype development, and evaluating the activity's outcomes. The training was delivered through sessions that combined conceptual instruction with hands-on practice in creating educational games. Results indicated that participants successfully grasped the fundamental concepts of educational games, learned to operate game development software, and produced prototypes of TNI-themed educational games suitable for classroom use. Furthermore, evaluations demonstrated an improvement in the teachers' competence regarding the development of digital learning media. Thus, this community service activity has made a positive contribution to enhancing teacher competence while supporting educational innovation through the use of educational games to introduce the TNI to elementary school students.
