Abstract

Each person needs food to survive. To be able to survive continuously, anyone can involve in any activities to maintain food security though it is still in micro scale in a family with a large or small space. In this Covid-19 pandemic, most of people stay at home and work from home. In this situation, they will need more food compared to the normal situation where they work in the office. The objective of this article is to explain the contribution of each family to promote food security by planting either flowers, ornamental plants, or vegetables. Method used in this program is counseling then the attendees adopt it at home. They can do it by seeing, adapting and modifying the role model (installation of hydroponic and aquaponics system). This program is initiated by giving them a short seminar to open their mind. By doing this, they realize that there opportunities to have activities to kill the time during leisure time. They can plant productive and short time plants or vegetables. The pandemic of Covid-19 will be the best time to spend the time to do something useful at home. By doing this program, the families are not only able to fulfill the needs of food by themselves. By doing so, they are more efficient because they do not need to spend their money to buy vegetables. They are able to complete the needs by themselves.
