Education is an effort to educate the nation; this means empowering every citizen to be able to balance their thoughts, words, and deeds. The process of community empowerment through education is actually an effort that enables the community with all its existence to empower itself. Faculty members and students at a higher education institution have a large share in becoming a bridge for the implementation of the community empowerment process. This article is to report a community service conducted by STIKS Tarakanita – as one of the three pillars of Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi – in SMAN 91 East Jakarta. This community service activity was carried out by holding interactive discussions in class on the topic of the importance of interpersonal communication. This topic was chosen as it was one of the elements that must be prepared by high schoolers to face life at campus and later, at work. It was expected that these students were then more aware of the diverse culture and background of different people at workplace. The purpose of this community empowerment activity was to provide soft skills training for the Z generation.
